Which One Should You Own? iOS or Android?

You cannot just give a blanket verdict about a phone. iOs or Android, each one of the smartphones has stronger and weaker points. But some people tend to like just a particular operating system for no apparent reason.

86.1% of mobile phone users prefer Android-operated phones while only 13.9% buy Apple’s phones. And the projection is more people will tend to move towards Android.

But it doesn’t mean that iPhone is terrible. Apple has a solid reputation, and it produces premium products, thanks to its industry-leading technology.

If you’ve been on one of these OSes and shifted to another, you will feel a change.

So how do these rival operating systems match up?

Ease of Use

Both interfaces are easy to use. That means shifting from one to the other shouldn’t give you trouble. However, there is some difference when it comes to appearance and home-screen setup.

It is easier to control your system on the android-specific phones than on iOS. You can easily customize it.

Hardware

iOS or Android

The hardware is the first difference between these two powerful smartphones.

Look, iPhones are from Apple! There is tight control over how the phones look and function. They have a perfect combination of hardware and software, resulting in a highly functional smartphone.

By contrast, established phone makers like Samsung, HTC, LG, and Motorola Use Android.

However, their phones vary in size, shape, quality, weight, and other features.

Some of these phones are premium, in terms of hardware quality. As a result, they match up to iOS phones. Cheaper versions, however, are prone to issues; thus, poor performance.

For Apple phones, you only select the brand as opposed to Android, where you choose the brand and the model.

While Apple offers simplicity and quality, Android provides variety in terms of model, brand, and quality.

Closed vs. Open Systems

The iPhone platform is proprietary. As such, it remains a closed system. Apple has ported none of its application to another operating system, and probably it won’t. iPhone users stick to apple applications such as iTunes.

On the contrary, Android’s platform is an open-source, but then again, it’s open to alternative applications.

OS Compatibility and upgrade

The iOS platform offers an upgrade to the operating system. That means you will always have the latest system on your iPhone. Contrary to this, some Android makers take time to upgrade their OS, while others do not upgrade.

iOS

Generally, the iPhone has better OS compatibility even for the older phone. For example, iPhone 5S released in 2013 fully supports the latest iOS 11.

Compare this to android-using devices: more than 8 weeks of the release of Android 8 (Oreo), it was running on just 0.2% of Android devices. Again, after a year of publication of android 7, it was only running 18% of devices.

The makers of phones control when to release an OS. For Android, it is pretty slow.

AI and Voice Assistants: Google Assistant vs. Siri

iOS Siri

Google Assistant is by far the most the best voice interface. It has proved efficient, primarily if you use applications like Google Calendar and Google Maps to make your life easier. For instance, if you have a meeting, Google assistant works out everything – traffic, weather, etc.

You know that Siri was the first in the market. It is pretty basic. It is excellent at answering questions, but it is not a good assistant.

Apps Range

Android app

According to statistics, Google Play has more apps than the App Store. Still, many people download more apps on Google play than App store according to some reports. Today there are 2.8 million apps on Google Play and 2.2 million apps on Apple App Store.

Apple is strict about the apps it allows, which is not the case with Google. Stringent measures by Apple prevent the publishing of fake apps, which can be a potential security threat.

The range of smartphones using Android is multiple, which makes it a bit difficult to develop a product that fits all of them. Developer receiver support emails with unsupported device claims, as in the case of Temple Run. Developing for the Android’ platform is expensive.

Gaming

gaming on iOS

iPhone offers a better gaming platform. Devices such as the iPhone and iPod touch are dominant in the mobile video game market. Observers forecast than soon; the Apple platform may eclipse Nintendo and Sony.

Apple has powerful software, and hardware makes it possible to create compelling gaming technologies. The phones are as faster as laptops.

Developing for Android-specific phones is problematic. The remaining developers, Android as the second level. This gives the iPhone a clear advantage.

Both OSes work pretty well. For regular daily use, they won’t malfunction. However, some phones tend to freeze the screen, especially if you strain them. While android phones allow for sharing chargers and USB cables, it can destroy your phone. So always stock to brand practices.

If your smartphone fails, take it to the nearest Apple Dealer. For android phones, well, maybe a specific brand dealer.
